#### Sometimes, the best ideas start with a simple question: “There has to be a better way.”
**The year was 2003.** Eight-year-old Tyler came home from school with a smudged stamp on his hand. His parents, Laurie and Jay Bruber, couldn't make out what it said, so they called the school. The message was simple: Tyler needed money in his lunch account.
**But the process was anything but simple.**
Kids had to walk around all day with a smudged lunch balance on their hand, that parents then had to decode and take action. Jay already owned a technology and payment processing company, Persolvent. Laurie looked at him and said, ***"There has to be a better way."***
That moment became the beginning of something much bigger.
Jay saw an opportunity to bring the convenience of online payments into education, **and lunch money was just the beginning.** Registration, fees, and activities each lived in different places, with different logins and a different process. The goal became simple: one place, one login, one process.
What started with one family's experience grew into a commitment to help schools and organizations use technology to work smarter, serve people better, and create stronger communities.
### From payment technology to purpose-driven innovation
Persolvent is a payment solutions provider known for it’s round-the-clock customer support. In 2003, that expertise and support expanded into education through payment processing partnerships and technology supporting the needs of schools, students, and families.
For us, technology has only been part of the story. **Real, human relationships** have always been at the core of our work, making sure the technology works as it should and meets the varied needs of the communities we serve.
